The Legendary Tom Landry said it best: "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable."

It truly is and it starts with Junior Football. Ann Arbor has a long-standing Junior Football tradition going back to when John and Jim Harbaugh played here, for the Junior Packers.

Today, this tradition continues with the Washtenaw Blue Junior Football, Jr. Wolverines. Our mission is to teach athletes the great game of football, to teach them what teamwork means, to learn to overcome adversity, and to have fun in a safe environment. We want him/her to be a part of our team, to share in the comradery of competition, the joy of team success, and to become a part of the Washtenaw Blue tradition.

Preseason will start in August with 5 practice days per week. In-season will require 4 practices per week with games held on Saturdays. TeamSnap is our primary form of communication throughout the season and is strong recommended.

The Washtenaw Blue tradition encourages the entire family to join in on the fun, whether cheering on the team, volunteering on gameday, or during team building activities. To learn more about volunteer opportunities:

"Junior Football In Ann Arbor Was Where It All Began For Me. Through Football, I Learned Powerful Lessons About Self-Discipline, Perseverance, And Teamwork While Playing The Game I Loved With Boys Who Became My Lifelong Friends. If You Ask Me, There Is No Better Sport For Teaching The Most Important Lessons In Life”

We use Schutt Youth Vengeance 5 star rating helmets

Virgina Tech rate youth football helmets based on the results of 48 impact tests in our laboratory. A pendulum designed to match helmet-to-helmet characteristics in youth football is used to test the helmets. We measure linear and rotational accelerations for each impact, which are correlated to concussion risk. Our lab tests are based on data we collected directly from 10 to 14 year old youth football players that wore helmets equipped with sensors. Helmets with more stars provide a reduction in concussion risk for these impacts compared to helmets with less stars.
